Volume Calculator Guide
Find the volume of a box, cube, cylinder, sphere, or cone. Choose a shape, enter its dimensions, and the volume is calculated in cubic units instantly.
Box: l × w × h · Cylinder: πr²h · Sphere: 4/3 πr³ · Cone: 1/3 πr²h.
How Do I Calculate Volume?
Each solid has its own formula. A box is length times width times height; a cylinder is pi times radius squared times height. For example, a cylinder with radius 3 and height 5 holds about 141.4 cubic units.
Cubic Units and Capacity
Volume is measured in cubic units — cubic feet, cubic meters, and so on. For liquid capacity, cubic units can be converted: one cubic foot holds about 7.48 US gallons, and one cubic meter is 1,000 liters.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate volume?
Use the formula for the shape — for example, length times width times height for a box, or pi times radius squared times height for a cylinder.
What is the volume of a sphere?
It is four-thirds times pi times the radius cubed (4/3 πr³).
What units is volume measured in?
Cubic units of whatever length unit you enter — cubic feet, cubic meters, cubic inches, and so on.
How do I convert volume to gallons or liters?
One cubic foot is about 7.48 US gallons, and one cubic meter is 1,000 liters.
